Interview with Mr. Bob Ravener, Executive Vice President, Chief People Officer at Dollar General. Mr. Ravener is a 1981 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and served six years in the Navy as a Submarine officer as well as time in the Reserves after coming off active duty.

"...After leaving the Navy, Mr. Ravener earned his MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business and served in key leadership positions at several top companies including PepsiCo, Footstar, Home Depot, and Starbucks before joining Dollar General where he currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer. 
His current job responsibilities include attracting, motivating and retaining a diverse population through innovative and creative initiatives in the areas of staffing, compensation, benefits, employee relations, training and organizational development. 
Mr. Ravener and colleagues at Dollar General created the Paychecks for Patriots initiative, which started as a partnership with the Tennessee government, military, and many employers. 
The concept is now expanding to other states with an objective to work closely with the public and private sectors to address unemployment challenges facing Guardsmen, Reservists, veterans, and their spouses. 
He is the 2011 recipient of the Evanta HR Top 10 Breakaway Leaders Award, which honors top leaders who are changing the face of HR and inspiring a legacy of excellence. 
His memoir, "Up: The Difference Between Today and Tomorrow is.YOU!", will be published this summer by Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas..."
